Email an Invoice

After you create your invoice and have finished previewing it to make sure all the information is correct, you can send your invoice via text or email to your customer. This article will explain how you can send invoices through email.  

When you are emailing an invoice from a mobile device, it will be sent through the default email on the device. iOS devices will send invoices through the default Mail app and Android devices will send from the mail app of your choice (e.g Gmail, Yahoo, etc.). Once you send your invoices from your mobile device, you can open your email outbox folder and see that your invoice was successfully delivered to your customer.

Invoices sent from the web app are delivered through Invoice2go's email domain invoice2go@spemail.2go.com. Even though your invoice is sent from Invoice2go's email domain, your invoice is delivered to your customer as though it coming from you. 

All invoices you send will have the status 'Sent' applied to it. Once your customer opens the invoice on the email you sent, your invoice status will change from 'Sent' to 'Opened.' When your invoices are marked as fully paid, they will automatically move from the Unpaid to the Paid folder.

The following steps walk you through how to email an invoice — the steps below are similar for all of your document types (estimates, purchase orders and credit memos).

iPhone and iPad

  1. From the side navigation menu, tap on Invoices
  2. Select the invoice you would like to send or create a new invoice by tapping on the green + sign in the top right corner
    • If this is a new invoice, tap on the green next button to be brought to the preview & manage screen after filling out the invoice details
  3. Tap on Send
  4. Tap on Email. This will open the pre-filled email with your invoice attached.
  5. Tap on the blue Send arrow in the top right corner to send the invoice

Android

  1. From the side navigation menu, tap on Invoices
  2. Select the invoice you would like to send or create a new invoice by tapping on the green + sign in the top right corner
    • If this is a new invoice, tap on the green next button to be brought to the preview & manage screen after filling out the invoice details
  3. Tap on Send
  4. Tap on Email
  5. From the apps box, choose the email app that you wish to use. This will open the pre-filled email with your invoice attached.
  6. Tap on Send in the top right corner to send the invoice

Web

  1. From the side navigation menu, click on Invoices
  2. Select the invoice you would like to send or create a new invoice by clicking on Create an invoice in the top right corner
  3. At the top of the screen next to Create and Preview, click on Send
  4. Ensure that your client's email address is entered in the To field
  5. On the right of the screen above payment options, click the green Send invoice button to email the invoice
